At Bloomington Table, our mission is to ensure that no one in our town goes hungry. We provide free, nutritious hot meals to all citizens of Bloomington, Monday through Friday, in a welcoming environment that fosters dignity and community.
In addition, our take-home food pantry offers families boxes of groceries to help nourish their households beyond the dinner table. Rooted in compassion, inclusion, and care, we are committed to fighting food insecurity and building a stronger, healthier Bloomington-one meal at a time.
Our Story
Dorothy's Hope Kitchen and Pantry (DHK) stands as a beacon of support for the Bloomington community and surrounding areas, including Victoria and Placedo. Inspired by the selfless spirit of Dorothy Ellis, a devoted nurse who served Victoria County families for 39 years at DeTar Hospital, DHK continues her legacy of compassion by addressing food insecurity and providing essential resources for families and individuals in need.
Driven by a heritage of feeding and caring for others, DHK officially took shape after years of informal hot meal programs dating back to 2021. Today, the organization operates as a permanent agency of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, offering vital food assistance and expanding services to meet the growing needs of the community.
